Excellent! I am right there with you. It is SO easy to debunk these e-mails. A 1 minute search on the web with some key words from the article will usually turn up several hoax busting sites.

However, I don't agree with you that it is easy to stop this. I have sent back kindly worded "this is a hoax" replies with supporting websites and an urge to check things out before forwarding many times. I do that every time I get one. But it isn't long before I get another hoax from that person and I reply again. Then I get another. So i word my reply in stronger language and then it stops. But when I talk to a mutual friend, that person doesn't stop sending forwards, they just stop sending them to me.

This isn't an isolated case of one person I know. There are many out their who seem to be e-mail hoax/chain mail addicts who cannot control themselves.

So I agree with your article on all accounts except the success of your efforts to debunk them. Unfortunately, you won't "soon have a much cleaner inbox".

Thank you so very much for sharing your life stories and experiences in the format of writing. Today I read your article in “Hot Apple Cider”. It was an incredible direct miraculous answer to my prayers. It was like the very breath of God breathed through the words you wrote and melted the frosty layer of discouragement in my heart.

Only yesterday I had prayed and asked God to speak to me during this Christmas season as I have been very discouraged and frustrated. I am not doing “what I think” I am supposed to be doing in life and it is has been very difficult for me to keep believing that God’s plans and ways are better than mine.

The years have been going by and no doors have opened for the dreams God has placed in my heart. It seems like my years of training, learning and experience are such a waste. Many Christians do not understand what it is like for someone to seemingly sit on the shelf while others around them are excitedly living out the dreams God has given them.

Your article breathed the very reassurance of God into the deepest part of my soul. He does know what he is doing and his plans are better than mine. I am not alone in this experience and he chose to show me that through your article.

A day after my prayer, God gave me the Christmas gift I asked for in the form of your article. He gave me the reassurance that he does know what he is doing and that I am where I am supposed to be at in life. How I needed to be reminded that he knows what he is doing especially since I cannot see the big picture.

Thank you so very much for sharing your life. You truly are a blessing. I hope this note will somehow create in you the knowing that God uses you to bless others in ways you cannot see through your writing. Your writing time was and is not wasted. You are appreciated by the people who read your articles.

I pray God will richly bless you and your family!!

Great book! Just read "Does God Still Do Miracles?" and I'm surprised you didn't ask the Apostle Paul to give a review for the back cause he would have been all thumbs-up!

In this day with so much of this "miracles" stuff going on its so easy to either fall for it or just cast it aside as "new" and therefore nonsense, but you tackle it fairly and test all things according to The Word of God and your findings are sound and solid, yet presented lovingly.

God bless you for taking the time to honor the Lord in obedience to Him, using the knowledge He has given you and by the Spirit producing such a sound investigation into these common things that so many of us don't know enough about, so thank you!

To God be the Glory for ever and ever,
God bless

Brad,
I am a pastor in the Christian Reformed Church and about 8 years ago I wrote a book , "Miraculous Healing and You." mostly for our church's people, but also read by many others. I think, as do many others, that it presents a balanced view, with stories of actual healings, witnessed by myself as well as others, but it also has a chapter, "When God does not Heal." I think you would enjoy reading it. Check it out, if you have trouble
getting hold of a copy, let me know. It was published by CRC Publications.
I appreciate your concern, and even scepticism, I too have it, at the same time there are instances where I cannot deny the direct involvement of God.
Greetings,
Henry Wildeboer

Hi Brad
Just to remind you, The Proverbs sang at your 18th birthday, your mom and dad came to our concert last night and it was so good to see them after so many years. They were bringing us up to speed on your life.. giving us 2 of your books and your website. I'm looking forward to reading them. God has been good to you and He does light our path and His timing is perfect. I've recently read the Dream Giver and it is an awesome thing when our dreams come true! I need to tell our children about your birthday, they might think that were cool at some point in our life!!! Blessings Kathy

Dear Sir I agree that everything that glitters isn't always gold.. I get the impression that it's as if you don't believe in miracles at all....They don't always come as we expect. My grandmother had cancer she prayed for healing, everyone was praying for her. One day she became very ill we rushed her to the hospital. The Doctor told us it's only a matter of hours now...we stood puzzled like you said wondering why we felt so strong God was going to heal her. Now here we are.......She became commatized not speaking, or opening her eyes. Right before she took her last breath she raised up in the bed and yelled so loud you could hear her down the hall say I'm Healed, I'm healed. See in Glory there is no cancer and I believe my grandmother received her healing that day.. Please write me back God Bless You Daniel Fox

Dr Burke, have you seen Reinhard Bonkes documentary where he documents 8 healings, most of them in the US, with all the documentation that went along with them?
I am personally a person that has been undoubtedly healed, even though the official medical response is that the first exam (that attested my condition) was probably wrong. I know what I went through though, and I know the exact day when I was healed. And I can point out other people that I know that have had miraculous healings - I am not talking headaches and tooth aches, but people that were given no chance of survival.
If it interests at all, I could answer your questions via private e-mail.
Regards,
Christian

Dear Christian,

I would like very much to see this documentary of Reinhard Bonkes. If these were genuine miracles that he has documented, then they should stand up to close medical scrutiny.

Just so that you do not misunderstand me, I believe like most Christian medical doctors that God is still performing miracles of physical healing today that cannot be explained by natural forces. But from all the research I have completed, I believe such miracles are rare and not as common as most people believe. There are numerous times when families are told that the chance of survival are slim or very low for a family member. When their relative pulls through the illness, often the family will say, The doctors said there was no chance of survival. This is a miracle! But the doctors never said there was no chance of survival. They just said it was very low. I contacted an author once on such a statement that he made in his book to document a miracle. He admitted having gained the information from the family, not the doctors, in a situation where, from a medical doctors standpoint, there was indeed a chance of survival. (You will find more detail on this story in my book, Does God Still Do Miracles?)

I would also like very much to hear how God healed you. I will email you and provide you my email address if you wish to speak privately about it.

Blessings in Christ,

Dr Brad

I recently read a book titled "Everything Belongs - The Gift of Contemplative Prayer" by Richard Rohr.

In his book he suggests that most of us live our lives on the periphery of reality or the superficial of what is seen in the temporal environment we call life.

For this reason, adversity and trials shake us and forces us to take a journey, like Jonah into the whale's belly, into the core of truth where in the darkness we truly discover God and ultimately ourselves and His purpose for our life.

Over the past 12 months I have experienced what many would consider to be devastating loss (millions of dollars gone, a business that sat perilously on the precipice of collapse, an acrimonious divorce that ate away what savings had remained, and burdensome debts that continue to create challenges. However in each of these things I remain grateful to a glorious God whose master plan is unfolding before my eyes.

As I continue to devote my time to daily bible readings and quiet contemplation and prayer, combined with the timely (through God's intervention) introduction of books such as Rohr\'s by strangers who enter the stage of my life from unexpected places, God\'s word comes alive.

Powerful messages such as Isaiah 45:3 "I will give you the treasures of darkness; And hidden riches of secret places, That you may know that I, the Lord, Who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel, tell me that these initially unwanted journey's into the darkness is where we must go to find true love and peace. To find God who is waiting with open arms to share His greatest gift, which is Himself?

As has often been the case during this journey, I was moved to watch 100 Huntley Street where Dr. Burke was being interviewed. It was not so much by words that this instruction was delivered, but by a knowing within my soul. Unspoken, yet powerful. Needless to say, I was riveted to the interview because I truly believe that there is a major change that is on the near horizon. A return to the core elements of true faith based on the surrender of our collective wills and limited understanding to a Mighty and Powerful God whose desire to Love and be Loved and known is part of his master plan.

Jeremiah 9:23-24

Thus says the Lord:

"Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,
Let not the mighty man glory in his might,
Nor the rich man glory in his riches;
But let him who glories glory in this,
That he understands and knows Me
That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these I delight," says the Lord.

Dr. Burke's statement during the interview that the answers to suffering are ultimately found in the word if you dig deep enough is ultimately true. It is through daily reading and contemplative prayer that God reveals Himself to his children.

And as Colossians 3:14-15 states, "But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful," I too am thankful for a Loving God in whose care and divine wisdom I willingly surrender that which is rightfully His . . . my life.

“Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,
Let not the mighty man glory in his might,
Nor the rich man glory in his riches;
But let him who glories glory in this,
That he understands and knows Me
That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these I delight,” says the Lord.

Dr. Burke’s statement during the interview that the answers to suffering are ultimately found in the word if you dig deep enough is ultimately true. It is through daily reading and contemplative prayer that God reveals Himself to his children.

And as Colossians 3:14-15 states, “But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful,” I too am thankful for a Loving God in whose care and divine wisdom I willingly surrender that which is rightfully His . . . my life.
