Stay away from Richard Rohr’s books. His dabbling in mysticism and new age philosophy is in direct opposition to God’s Word. Here’s a sample of words from a few of his books.

“We cannot attain the presence of God. We’re already totally in the presence of God. What’s absent is awareness,” writes Richard Rohr, a popular retreat master and author of The Good News According to Luke. In this masterful defense of contemplative prayer, God is presented as a lover who receives and forgives everything. Rohr challenges us to clean the lens we put before our eyes so we can see more clearly. This practice is what the Zen masters call “wiping the mirror.”

The author salutes the value of the beginner’s mind, which he calls “a posture of eagerness, of spiritual hunger.” Rohr plumbs the Christian tradition of being nothing and finds in it a superb reliance upon God’s grace as the source of all good things. He challenges us to see that our greatest cross is “to bear humbly the mystery of our own reality.” And he celebrates the Eastern ideal of big mind — a unitive consciousness. Rohr also locates axial meaning in the religious movement of descent — we can learn from suffering and loss; it does not have to destroy us.

Caution and spiritual discernment should be used when reading Richard Rohr’s books.

This was an amazing play and I enjoyed it very much. I laughed, I cried and at times, during the music, was very restless because I wanted to know what was going to happen next!!
You are a very gifted writer Dr. Brad, and the Lord has blessed you abundantly!
You have a beautiful family and home. You have so much to be proud of.
I admire you and can see that your life reflects of one that has honored the Lord!

Just reading this brought me back 20+ years. I miss and think about Bancroft all the time. You certainly don’t know this but you Brad are my happiest high school memory, because all these years I knew that you will always be with Christ. For some reason when I thought of Bancroft, I connected you and Christ and was glad that someone like you past through my life. I’m so happy today that I found your web page. Greece has a “different aspect to Christ”. I wish your people were here to “kick it up a notch”. Religion here, is about the crusefiction not the celebration of his birth and the coming of Christ. So you can imagine! I love the “wests” celebration of Christ rather than the east.

Excellent! I am right there with you. It is SO easy to debunk these e-mails. A 1 minute search on the web with some key words from the article will usually turn up several hoax busting sites.

However, I don’t agree with you that it is easy to stop this. I have sent back kindly worded “this is a hoax” replies with supporting websites and an urge to check things out before forwarding many times. I do that every time I get one. But it isn’t long before I get another hoax from that person and I reply again. Then I get another. So i word my reply in stronger language and then it stops. But when I talk to a mutual friend, that person doesn’t stop sending forwards, they just stop sending them to me.

This isn’t an isolated case of one person I know. There are many out their who seem to be e-mail hoax/chain mail addicts who cannot control themselves.

So I agree with your article on all accounts except the success of your efforts to debunk them. Unfortunately, you won’t “soon have a much cleaner inbox”.

Thank you so very much for sharing your life stories and experiences in the format of writing. Today I read your article in “Hot Apple Cider”. It was an incredible direct miraculous answer to my prayers. It was like the very breath of God breathed through the words you wrote and melted the frosty layer of discouragement in my heart.

Only yesterday I had prayed and asked God to speak to me during this Christmas season as I have been very discouraged and frustrated. I am not doing “what I think” I am supposed to be doing in life and it is has been very difficult for me to keep believing that God’s plans and ways are better than mine.

The years have been going by and no doors have opened for the dreams God has placed in my heart. It seems like my years of training, learning and experience are such a waste. Many Christians do not understand what it is like for someone to seemingly sit on the shelf while others around them are excitedly living out the dreams God has given them.

Your article breathed the very reassurance of God into the deepest part of my soul. He does know what he is doing and his plans are better than mine. I am not alone in this experience and he chose to show me that through your article.

A day after my prayer, God gave me the Christmas gift I asked for in the form of your article. He gave me the reassurance that he does know what he is doing and that I am where I am supposed to be at in life. How I needed to be reminded that he knows what he is doing especially since I cannot see the big picture.

Thank you so very much for sharing your life. You truly are a blessing. I hope this note will somehow create in you the knowing that God uses you to bless others in ways you cannot see through your writing. Your writing time was and is not wasted. You are appreciated by the people who read your articles.

Great book! Just read “Does God Still Do Miracles?” and I’m surprised you didn’t ask the Apostle Paul to give a review for the back cause he would have been all thumbs-up!

In this day with so much of this “miracles” stuff going on its so easy to either fall for it or just cast it aside as “new” and therefore nonsense, but you tackle it fairly and test all things according to The Word of God and your findings are sound and solid, yet presented lovingly.

God bless you for taking the time to honor the Lord in obedience to Him, using the knowledge He has given you and by the Spirit producing such a sound investigation into these common things that so many of us don’t know enough about, so thank you!

I am a pastor in the Christian Reformed Church and about 8 years ago I wrote a book , “Miraculous Healing and You.” mostly for our church’s people, but also read by many others. I think, as do many others, that it presents a balanced view, with stories of actual healings, witnessed by myself as well as others, but it also has a chapter, “When God does not Heal.” I think you would enjoy reading it. Check it out, if you have trouble
getting hold of a copy, let me know. It was published by CRC Publications.
I appreciate your concern, and even scepticism, I too have it, at the same time there are instances where I cannot deny the direct involvement of God.

I wanted to congratulate you on the article in the April 10 edition of The Medical Post. Also on the publishing of your books.
I found the article and your web site encouraging and challenging.
It is clear that God has worked things in your life for His purposes.

I am a GP Anesthitist practicing in Trenton Ontario for the last 15 years. My family and I attend the Pentecostal church in Trenton. My children have gone through the Christian Education system in Trenton and Belleville. My daughter is attending Hillsong in Australia. I belong to CMDS and have had a long-standing interest in Faith and Medicine. I have recently self-published a study book based on some teaching I did at my church. The book is entitled “The Sanctified Soul, How in the World can I be Good?”. It looks at the whole person and how God can work in all parts to make us more like Jesus.

I trust that God continues to use you, your writing and your medical practice for His Kingdom and His glory,

Just to remind you, The Proverbs sang at your 18th birthday, your mom and dad came to our concert last night and it was so good to see them after so many years. They were bringing us up to speed on your life.. giving us 2 of your books and your website. I’m looking forward to reading them. God has been good to you and He does light our path and His timing is perfect. I’ve recently read the Dream Giver and it is an awesome thing when our dreams come true!
